Lymphangiography and Lymphatic Leak Localization (LAG)
Lymphangiography opacifies lymphatic channels to define lymphatic anatomy, flow abnormalities and the site of a suspected leak. Ultrasound-guided intranodal lymphangiography has largely replaced pedal lymphatic-vessel cannulation and is commonly used for postoperative or traumatic chylothorax, chylous ascites, lymphocele and cutaneous lymphatic fistula. Ethiodized-oil lymphangiography may also reduce leak output through an inflammatory and embolic effect, but pulmonary or systemic oil embolization is a rare major hazard.
